Worm's in the Kid's Garden

Worms are cool, as my kids put it. They really like and understand worms. They aren't gross to them. I like worms. They help maintain a sense of balance. Plus they are much better than some insects in the garden (besides the bees, I really like bees better, the pollinators of our garden area).

Building a worm bin can help bring rich compost to the garden. Here's a few places that talk about worms, benefits of a worm bin and some fun places to check out with the kids on worms.

1. Squirmy Worms: Build a Worm Bin - This article explains the basics of a worm bin and how to get started with one.

2. Worm World - This has cool and fun facts about the worm's world.

3. Herman the Worm- This is another site that has worm facts. It is a great site for teachers and has a guide for teachers if they want to use it for a school kid's garden.

Happy gardening and worm composting.

My kids are kind of freaked out by worns lol!

Mooneyham is a very unique last name! I have a good friend with the same moniker, and I've never heard it otherwise :-)

I guess worms are something you just love or don't. The last name certainly is a very unusual name. I went from five letters in my last name to 9! That makes for interesting talk on the phone too when people cannot pronounce the name correctly!

Hi Katina so pleased to discover your great site, just love gardens so will be popping back over to get more great ideas. You say your site is for little gardeners, but some of us big gardeners need to start at the beginning too, best wishes, The Artist

It's so true. Some of big gardeners learn from the basics. We also learn from our kids too. My kids have taught me a lot in the garden. They are very good observers and sometimes spot things I don't at first.
