Rainy Day Gardening
Perhaps it's going to rain today. There's a 20 percent chance here. But when it rains we usually can't garden. So what can you do with the kids when it rains? There are a lot of garden related activities that can be done on a rainy day.
Try some rainy day gardening activities.
Here's a list of some more activities.
1. Have younger kid gardeners draw some plants. You can then put them into a binder to use later or have for a garden scrapbook.
2. Buy garden supplies. You can go garden shopping for new supplies, seeds or just to have a look at the inside garden sections of your local home and garden shops, greenhouses or department stores.
3. Start some inside experiments.

Great ideas!
My daughters like to make garden crafts on rainy days or during the heat of the day when it is uncomfortable in the garden. Yesterday they made and painted "Welcome to the garden" signs without my knowledge even. Only problem is that they used regular acrylic paint that won't stand up to the weather. Do you think I could coat that with polyurethane to protect the paint?
We have often used acrylics outside and used a top coat of sealant to keep it from wearing away. So I think it would probably work. You might want to keep doing it every so often, just to make sure. Check a local hobby or paint shop as they would probably know more.
